CONTROLS ENGINEER opportunity for a well respected oil & gas company with in Denver, CO. Travel 40-50% regionally for first year or so then <25% thereafter. Includes relocation.

Responsibilities

  • Provide programming, automation instrumentation and electrical needs for large and small capital/maintenance projects
  • Design controls systems, program, troubleshoot, start-up, verify compliance with standards
  • Integrate, design and implement PLC and HMI systems associated with processing plants, gas compression facilities, automated wellhead operation, production equipment and liquid pumping stations including the interaction of these systems with existing systems
  • Travel occasionally to regional sites to develop design requirements and assist in implementation

Requirements

  • BS Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related field
  • Need 4 to 20+ years related experience in oil and/or gas - processing or related field
  • Ability to design P & ID’s and wiring diagrams, HMI graphic screens, multi-area alarm and automated call out systems, and create self-documenting PLC programs
  • Need advanced controls trouble shooting techniques
  • Need knowledge of: (a) database programs including integrating data interfaces into the SCADA system; computer-user security as applied to PLC and HMI systems, (b) networks (LAN and WAN), computer interfaces and communication protocols use in oil industry
  • Familiar with oil and gas industry safe practices such as processing schemes, emergency shutdown systems, area classifications, contractual reporting requirements and data security
  • Good interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with ability to interface with government agencies, sales representatives, engineers, and contractors
