Wind Energy client is looking for a Chief Engineering Specialist to lead the manufacturing & production efforts for wind turbine nacelles. You need 10-15+ years of experience related to the engineering design and manufacturing of wind turbine nacelles OR have experience in a high volume, mass production manufacturing environment (like automotive). You need at an MS degree in Engineering and preferably a PhD. in Mechanical, Aerospace or a similar engineering field. **Total compensation is commensurate with experience**

Responsibilities

• Your main responsibility will be to lead the efforts to make sure the nacelle design can actually be manufactured and then be the Lead with regards to manufacturing & assembling this component
• Help identify & select potential partners & suppliers in designing & manufacturing wind turbine nacelles
• Develop simplified solutions that minimize complexity & maintenance requirements on wind turbines
• Create product requirements and design specifications for manufacturability
• Estimate costs based on various material thickness and types
• Understands tradeoffs between castings/forgings/machining

Requirements

• 12-15+ years of experience related to the engineering design and manufacturing of wind turbine nacelles
• MS degree in Engineering and preferably a PhD. in Mechanical, Aerospace or a similar engineering field
• Experience with different kinds of pitch mechanism: electro-mechanical, hydraulic, mechanical
• Understanding of lubrication systems
• Experience in optimizing assembly of large and small mechanical components at mass production volumes
• Experience in manufacturing yaw/gear systems and bearings
