Electrical power generation client is currently seeking an EH&S Engineer to work within the Safety Assurance department for Oconee Nuclear Station in Seneca, SC. This CONTRACT assignment is scheduled through June 1, 2013, with the possibility of extension. Local candidates preferred but per diem will be available for qualified candidates. Must be able to obtain unescorted access to the site.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Environmental compliance programs for the Oconee Nuclear site
  • Work will be divided between as approximately 60% office and 40% field
  • Office work includes the preparation and submittal of permit required reporting to the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control and other agencies
  • This could be in the area of the NPDES permit, SPCC plan updates, Conditional Major Air permit, Clear Air Act permitting, groundwater reporting, storm water program, landfill compliance, land disturbance permitting, or other program as required
  • Field work includes performing monthly storm water inspections including quarterly sampling events and providing oversight to individuals engaged in land disturbing activities on the Oconee site

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited university with training relevant to environmental program needs
  • SC Certified Erosion Control Inspector License
  • DOT Shipping Training
  • RCRA Hazardous Waste Training
  • 3 years experience at an operating nuclear power plant
  • 3 years experience in support of an environmental program at an industrial site
  • Have a well rounded understanding of environmental regulations and permitting
